Trails and Teide National Park
Some of the best trails in the Canary Islands start a 20-30 minute drive from the estate. After the hike, the pool is already warm. Here are the ones José recommends most.

Three areas, three kinds of day
Las Cañadas, Pico Viejo, Mount Teide
20-30 min by car
High-altitude volcanic landscape -- the Roques de García, Las Cañadas, the ascent to Mount Teide and Pico Viejo. Some trails require a permit (Teide summit).
Ancient laurel forest
50 min by car
An enchanted laurisilva forest, ocean viewpoints and full-day circular trails. A World Heritage Site.
Historic old town + gardens
5-15 min by car
The Valley itself: Marquesado gardens, 17th-century manor houses, the Church of la Concepción, viewpoints looking out to Mount Teide.
The six routes we recommend most
Teide National Park
The most photographed trail in the park. The Catedral rock formations and the Roque Cinchado. It starts beside the Parador. No significant elevation gain.
Teide National Park
The climb up Mount Teide's sister volcano. Set off early; you'll need water, nuts and warm clothing. A permit is needed for the final 200 m to the summit.
Teide National Park (west side)
A trail through Canary pines and recent lava fields. Chinyero was Tenerife's last eruption (1909). Partial shade.
Anaga Massif
The most photogenic forest in the massif. Morning mist, ferns and centuries-old laurels. Free online permit (limited quota).
Anaga Massif
From the Anaga ridge down to the ocean along crests and ravines. Return by bus or by calling a taxi.
Orotava Valley
A walk past the 17th- and 18th-century manor houses, the Marquesado gardens, the Church of la Concepción and the viewpoints with views of Mount Teide.
Four practical tips
Mount Teide clouds over from midday in summer. For the best viewpoints, leave the estate before 9.
Down at the estate it's 18-22°C; up in Las Cañadas it can be 5-10°C. Always keep a windbreaker in the car.
The Teide summit and the Pijaral trail require a free online permit. Request it 1-2 weeks ahead.
Tenerife works best with your own car. Buses go up to the park, but a car gives you total freedom to stop at the viewpoints.
Book one of the three rural houses and we'll plan with you which routes fit your dates and the forecast.
